I have a confession:
I haven't been sewing for our new coming baby until now. Yes, I'm a crazy woman who decided to wait until she is 35 weeks along to actually begin sewing. (For the record, I do not recommend this if a pregnant woman wants to keep her sanity, but because I have no more sanity this is what works for me.)
At first, it was because I had plenty of time.
Then, it was because life became crazy and I couldn't get anything done that I actually wanted to do.
But after my last sonogram I measured quite a bit bigger than I should have. At 33 weeks, I was measuring at 37 weeks. EEEKKK!
Hmmm. . .we are either having a really big baby (which is entirely possible as our first baby was 10 pounds) or this baby is coming a whole lot sooner than expected.
Either way, I needed to get busy. With Pumpkin, we discovered the absolute wonder of a pocket-type swaddler. She would sleep so much better in her Kiddopotomus than without it. She loved it and as a result so did we. Well, we loved the sleep it gave us anyway.
So I decided to try and come up with my own version because it seemed fairly simple to make. It wasn't too difficult but after working on drafting my own pattern and cutting it out of the flannel I found this pattern online . And I have to say, I like it better than what I came up with.
Ah well. . . Hopefully I will have time to make one of those too and if not it would make a wonderful baby shower present sometime down the road. Here is what the blanket looks like with the help of Princess's baby doll, Jennifer. Hopefully our baby won't be too big to use these blankets, but if he is it will work great for all the other little doll babies and stuffed animals that my children love.
Such a cute idea! I will have to keep this bookmarked for sometime in the future... distant future! Baby projects are so quick, cute and fun!
ReplyDeleteI am 37 weeks pregnant.
ReplyDeleteI am a procrastinator.
this baby better not come early because I bought the fabric for a blanket 4 months ago and that's as far as I've gotten.
so know that you're not alone :)
