Earth Day at the Zoo

Late Wednesday night I learned from from sister-in-law that the zoo had free admission on Thursday in honor of Earth day. So we quickly planned a very spontaneous field trip. (which is the very best kind☺)

I love that about homeschooling: plans can change at the drop of a hat and we can just roll with it and have fun.

GOD IS SO GOOD! We had been talking about how much fun it would be to go to the zoo for a field trip, but because my husband has not been able to find full-time employment for almost a year money has been tight.

It has been good for my children to learn that we can't do everything and to learn a little about spending money wisely and on a stricter budget, but this was one thing that it was hard to tell them we couldn't do.

BUT God gave us the opportunity to go to the zoo for FREE! I shouldn't have been surprised, but I was.

We had a wonderful morning. The weather was absolutely perfect. . . until the very end of our trip when is rained so hard that the paths at the zoo flooded and we became completely water-logged. But even that will be a good memory now that we are all warm and dry.

While the zoo was trying to emphasize the Creation and being responsible in our care of it, I couldn't help but marvel at the CREATOR. Who else could have created such diversity? Even the rain and thunder at the end of our trip showed the awesomeness of HIS power.
