I had plenty of help baking yesterday.
I was attempting to make sour dough bread and it turned out okay, but I don't think it was fantastic. If anyone has a recipe or hints I'd love to hear what I can do to get it right.
A. was determined, I mean absolutely determined, to bake a cake from scratch. I think he found the recipe on the PBS kids website with a Martha Speaks video or something. Frankly, I was a little worried about this one because I don't think Martha Speaks is a very reliable recipe source, but he did a great job.
I let A. do it all on his own with very little help from me. I tend to push in and "do it right" you know what I mean? I'm trying so hard not to do that, but when I see the mess it makes me queasy inside. So I just worked on my bread while he worked on his cake and tried not to look.
It turned out pretty good for his first cake.
A. was so proud that he made it all by himself. I need to let go a little more often. So hard to do. . .
Completely unrelated, but Sew Mama Sew is hosting another giveaway day this Monday, May 17. So you might want to find some free time at the beginning of next week to do some blog hopping and sign up for some free loot. I hope to participate, but don't have anything made yet. We will see if I can come up with something between now and then. If anyone has any ideas of something they would like for me to giveaway I am completely open to suggestions.☺
You are such a good mom!

I have a hard time letting my kids run with things too in the kitchen. Never knew what a control freak I was until I had kids.
