Ta-Da!!!!

This dress was made using Handmade Dress's Miss Madeline pattern and I totally recommend it. (Her blog is a totally fun read too, if you aren't already reading it check it out. They are waiting on some baby goats to be born right now so I'm hoping to see a ton of cute pics soon.)

Miss Madeline fits all important criteria:
  • Cuteness factor???? √
  • Easy to make???? √
  • Fast???? √

PERFECT! I think I'm going to have to make a ton of these dresses. Plus there is no closure to worry about and with the elastic neckline the dress stays perfectly in place. Easy toddler dressing at its best.

I actually won this pattern from a giveaway over a year ago. I was completely devastated when our computer's hard drive went kaput last summer and we were unable to uncover a lot of precious sewing pattern downloads. Most disastrous was losing this pattern. I was completely crushed.

Then. . . while straightening up my sewing table (which if you saw it you would never believe I even tried to straighten it up at all.) I FOUND IT!!!! I had printed it out and had forgotten that I had done so. YAY ME!!! I yelled and jumped up and down with happiness which is not easy for a pregnant woman to do, let me tell you.

This dress had to be sewed immediately so I went to our local fabric store and spent waaaaayyyy more money than I should have considering I actually own a ton of fabric. But this dress needed coordinating fabric and well. . . nothing I had seemed quite right. Plus fabric shopping is so crazy fun that I couldn't resist.

I found the apron fabric first. It is Free Spirit "Leanika" Love Birds. It had a lot of things Pumpkin loves best, "Tweets", butterflies, and flowers plus all the vintage cuteness I love.

I decided against the optional border fabric on the apron and did the embroidery floss embellishment that I showed you instead.

The dress fabric is Free Spirit "Freckles" Kinda hard to see in the pic, but it has white little freckles all over the fabric.

The waistband is made from a fabric in my stash (see? I do use it . . .) and is another Free Spirit fabric, Olive Rose by Valori Wells.

The options a person could do with this dress are endless. I'm wondering what would happen if I used FOE (fold over elastic) instead of elastic with a casing.

What fun things are you sewing/making for spring??? I'd love to hear what you've been up to.
