Just 5 Ingredients. . .

make the yummiest, quickest bars EVER!

This is a recipe that has been around a long time and you probably make something similar, but I thought I would show you how I do it.

REESE'S PEANUT BUTTER BARS:

I throw one package of graham crackers into a gallon-sized ziplok bag and then use my rolling pin to crush them. It's okay if you have a few bigger pieces because it will give extra crunch when you eat the bars.

To get the Peanut Butter to come out of the measuring cup, I first rinse the measuring cup under water quickly and then dump out the water to get the measuring cup wet. Then I measure out the PB into the wet measuring cup and that helps the PB to come out of the cup a little better.

It doesn't keep me from getting PB all over my fingers while I'm scooping it out of the jar.

But I'm just messy like that.

Every good recipe needs butter. I really believe that.

Most recipes tell you to melt the chocolate separately, but then you have something extra to wash. My mom taught me the trick of just sprinkling the chocolate chips over the top and then popping it into the oven until they are shiny. It takes about two minutes. If you start to spread them and they aren't quite melted enough, just pop them back into the oven for a bit.

If you want to save on your energy bill or if your oven is broken, and you live in a nice hot place like. . . oh . . . say Kansas in the summer, then you can take the bars out to the van or car and put the pan on top of the dashboard for a little bit and the chocolate chips will melt just fine there too.

This is all purely hypothetical, of course. . .

The cook gets to lick the spatula when its all spread out☺ I don't make these rules, I just follow them.

After taking the bars out of the refrigerator, let them rest for a bit so the chocolate isn't so hard that when you cut into them they crack. Of course if they do crack like mine did today, just eat them quick and don't tell anyone they ever existed.

If you cut them and put them on a pretty platter, no one will notice if a few are missing.

Reese's Peanut Butter Bars

1 1/2 c. graham cracker crumbs
3 - 3 ½ c. powdered sugar
1 ½ c. peanut butter
1 c. (2 sticks) butter, melted
1 (12 oz) bag of chocolate chips (I used semi-sweet, but wouldn't dark be amazing???)

Combine the graham cracker crumbs, powdered sugar, peanut butter, and melted butter and mix well.

Press into a jelly roll pan. If you don't have a jelly roll pan, you can use a 9 x 13. The bars will just be thicker.

Sprinkle chocolate chips over the peanut butter mixture and put into a 350° oven for approx. 2 minutes.

Spread the chocolate chips evenly over the bars.

Refrigerate to set the melted chocolate. Cut into bars. Makes about 36 bars.
