Doll Blanket

On Saturday, Princess begged me to do a craft project with her. She reminded me that she had embroidered a little dog a while ago (oops! I just noticed it was all the way back in March that she started this project. . . She has been very, very patient waiting for me to help her) to make a doll blanket for her favorite doll Jennifer and wanted to finish it.

I decided the easiest way to make the blanket would be to sew the front and the back together with no batting or quilting involved. So she stitched the two sides right sides together and then left an opening to turn. After that we pressed it and then top stitched all around to close the opening.

Both Jennifer and Princess are very happy with how the blanket turned out.

Here is the embroidery that she did on the front. This is not her first embroidery project, but her skills have definitely improved.

I'm hoping that I can come up with a lot more sewing projects for this summer, but we will have to wait and see. I'm thinking this skirt should be attempted next. Any other ideas?

  • If you haven't entered the giveaway yet you can go here to do that. The giveaway ends tomorrow morning whenever I manage to crawl out of bed.

  1. That is amazing that she can sew already!!! I like your blog posts!

  2. How wonderful that your young daughter wants to sew. I sewed when my daughter was that age, but she never asked to try. She sews now, though, she makes her little girl lots of pretty things, clothes as well as window treatments. I looked at the skirt that you mentioned that you might have your daughter try and I think that would be the perfect next step for her.
I'm wondering if my nine year old granddaughter would be interested in sewing, and if so, that would be such a great thing to start with. I helped her and her brother make a pillow for their beds and they loved that.
THANK YOU for picking my name on your giveaway!!! I sent you an email a few minutes ago, if it doesn't arrive leave me another comment and I will try again. I will be back to check out your blog again, I am very inspired by your sewing abilities.
    Hugs, Cindy S

  3. It's me again, I forgot to say that your little daughter did a beautiful job on her blanket and Princess looks very happy and snuggly in it! Hugs, Cindy S
